Popular burger chain Shake Shack coming to Seattle's South Lake Union; grand opening Oct. 11

Lovers of the popular East Coast burger chain have been drooling with anticipation over its Seattle arrival.

Yes, we already have great burgers in the Seattle area. Yes, we have awesome homegrown chains. But it’s still exciting that super-popular Shake Shack is opening its first Seattle outlet.

The grand opening is at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 11). The restaurant is near Amazon.com headquarters in South Lake Union, at 2115 Westlake Ave. Shake Shack said the first 100 guests would get a free "special Seattle Shack" tee.

The New York-based business is known for fast food made from quality ingredients, including burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and (of course) shakes. Our Shack will feature some Seattle-specific specialties, including frozen custard “concretes” (dense milkshakes) that include Theo Chocolate, Sea Wolf Bakery croissants, and A La Mode pies.

At the least, it should hold us over until we persuade Burgerville to come to town.
