Seattle summers can leave you yearning for a tropical vacation, but this year that tropical sunshine is here! Your vacation is just a few blocks away, and Seattle Parks and Recreation is working hard to help keep you cool.
Swimming pools
Mounger Pool, Magnolia: Open daily through Sept. 11. Offers a big pool with a 50-foot corkscrew slide and a little pool for new swimmers. Lessons and party rentals available.
Colman Pool, Lincoln Park, West Seattle: Open daily through Sept. 5. This heated saltwater pool features a giant tube slide and amazing views of Puget Sound.
Wading pools & spray parks
16 parks offer fresh, shallow water overseen by lifeguards; 10 parks offer daily spray features. Some are open daily, some 3 or 4 days each week.

Four-day-a-week wading pools (open noon to 6:45 pm unless otherwise noted):
