The Seattle Youth Garden Works program in action

Seattle Tilth will host its annual "Growing Roots: Green Gala & Auction" on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Swedish Cultural Center (1920 Dexter Ave. N. in Seattle). This festive event supports Seattle Youth Garden Works, which empowers homeless and underserved youth through garden-based education and employment.

The gala includes a silent and live auction (preview the items available for auction); drinks, hors d'oeuvres and dinner; and a dessert dash. Enjoy a special meal presented by Herban Feast with fresh, local, organic ingredients, including veggies grown at Seattle Youth Garden Works and other local farms. Tickets are $85 and may be purchased online here.

At Seattle Youth Garden Works, youth gain gardening knowledge, business expertise and job readiness skills while earning wages. Through one-on-one mentorship, the program helps youth stabilize their housing, secure future employment and achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
