“Shoes for Souls” Campaign Benefits North Seattle Children in Need

The Salvation Army and North Seattle Rotary have teamed up to collect new shoes for kids this summer. The campaign is now underway and the goal is to collect 1,000 pairs of new shoes for kids by Dec. 1.

Former Seattle elementary school principal Ed Jefferson, chairperson of the North Seattle Rotary Community Service Committee, created the project after recognizing the need in the community. The North Seattle Rotary Club is partnering with The Salvation Army Temple Corps in Greenwood for help with organization of the campaign, as well as storage and distribution of the shoes.

New shoes will be collected for both boys and girls (kindergarten through high school). Although all types of shoes are needed, athletic and school shoes are especially preferred. Here are the places you can donate, and the ways you can help:
 

  • The Salvation Army Seattle Temple Corps: 9501 Greenwood Ave., Seattle; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Epic Life Church: 10510 Stone Ave. N., Seattle; Tuesday – Friday, noon – 5 p.m., Wednesdays until 8 p.m.
  • Contact North Seattle Rotary Club via its website, or by calling 206-852-8997, to arrange a pick up.
