Star Wars fans: Don’t miss “The Empire Strikes Back in the Park”

Audience participation is encouraged; dress up and bring your kids' lightsabers.

Live theater fans can mingle with sci-fi fans during Hello Earth’s latest Wars Outdoors production "The Empire Strikes Back in the Park," held August weekends at Blanche Lavizzo Park in Seattle’s Central District.

In this theatrical re-imagining of the classic Star Wars story, Han struggles with commitment, Luke faces domestic drama, and Lando's business deals unfold. You can watch your favorite scenes — with a comical twist — while your family sprawls out on picnic blankets and eats hot dogs.

These Wars Outdoors plays often include audience participation, so you might want to bring your kid’s plastic lightsaber. Also, bring a blanket and your own refreshments.

Shows are free (donations welcome) and begin at 5 p.m. at Blanche Lavizzo Park, Saturdays and Sundays through August 25. See the full schedule on Hello Earth's Facebook page.

Enjoy the show, and may the Force be with you!
