Your guide to a kid-friendly city

Take a staycation on a South Lake Union tugboat

Book a tugboat sleepover this summer.

Already ready to make vacation plans for the end of the school year? It's never too early to plan a great getaway option this summer that won't require your family actually leaving town. You only need to travel as far as South Lake Union to find the 1889 Arthur Foss tugboat moored just north of the Museum of History and Industry.

And what, you wonder, can a tugboat do for you? Well, this tugboat happens to be a B&B. Book a bunk or cabin and spend the night gently rocking to sleep on Lake Union. The morning light will bring the sounds of seaplanes and the city, and you can cook up your BYOBreakfast in the mess hall/adorable tugboat kitchen. Reservations should begin in mid-May; check online for details. nwseaport.org/activities/tugboat-sleepovers
