Seattle's Child

Your guide to a kid-friendly city

Teachers, have a fun night out and get some great ideas at the same time

Educators are invited to learn about the educational resources of dozens of local community, arts, cultural and science organizations during a free open house from 5:3o-8 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 4) at the Washington State History Museum in downtown Tacoma.

In partnership with the Tacoma Museum District, the free, “one stop shopping” event will showcase resources and programs offered by various Puget Sound-area organizations to bring the arts, social studies, science and other subjects into classrooms — or to take students to visit local institutions.

The History Museum exhibits will be open, and refreshments will be served.

Teachers are asked to register in advance on the museum website, but registration also can be done at the door.

The Washington State History Museum is at 1911 Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma. Pay parking is available at the museum, and metered street parking is nearby. Another option is to park for free at the Tacoma Dome light-rail station and take the free Link light-rail train, which stops right in front of the museum.
