Your guide to a kid-friendly city

Tulips galore; gardening and urban farming

If you're not at work today and have young kids, consider a drive north to check out the fully in-bloom tulips in Skagit Valley. Expect less traffic on the highway and fewer crowds at Tulip Town. Work in an optional stop at the co-op in Mt. Vernon for lunch. Don't forget your rain boots—the fields are muddy. If you're staying closer to home try container gardening with kids. Grab the rain boots and start planting a veggie garden—or, if you have the land, go all in and plan an urban farm
