Two upcoming fundraisers will benefit two important organizations for children: The Children’s Alliance, which advocates for laws, policies and programs that work for kids, and the Washington Toxics Coalition, which works to eliminate toxic pollution in children’s toys and clothes and a variety of other items.
The Children’s Alliance “Voices for Children Awards Luncheon” on Tuesday, June 7, will celebrate leaders who are standing strong for kids and are helping to build a movement. The keynote speaker is William C. Bell, president and CEO of Casey Family Programs, and the master of ceremonies is Eric Liu, author, educator and civic entrepreneur. This event will be held in the Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $60 and every guest will be invited to make a gift of $150. In addition, the Washington Toxics Coalition’s annual auction and celebration will be held on Saturday, June 18, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mountaineers Program Center (7700 Sand Point Way N.E. in Seattle). This 30th anniversary event will feature live and silent auctions, the popular dessert dash, complimentary wine and beer, signature cocktails and a buffet highlighting wild-caught seafood and local, organic produce.
