Update, June 23, 2022: Just in time for some early summer heat, Seattle Parks announced that its wading pools are beginning to open! Openings are staggered, with Saturday, June 25 (2022) being the first day at Green Lake, Lincoln Park, Magnuson Park, Volunteer Park and Van Asselt Community Center. Other wading pools will open June 27, 28, 29, 30 or July 1. Updated information is here.
Wading pools are a summertime must for parents with young children. Shallow, bordered, and usually within toddling distance of a playground, they’re a perfect solution to a hot afternoon. Break out the bathing suits and head for one near you.
Wading pools are open on clear days with a forecast of 70 degrees or higher. Seattle Parks and Rec’s Facebook page is your best bet for the most updated information regarding wading pools. Read the schedule carefully as not all pools are open all days.
Pack a picnic and stay awhile. Splash in the city’s largest wading pool while soaking in the city views with your rays. A nearby playground is a plus. Open from June 25; daily noon to 7 p.m. 1247 15th Ave. E., Seattle

This is a wanna-be skater’s dream wading pool. Kids can take a dip while watching the cool skaters and BMX bikers do their thing at the nearby skatepark. Open from June 29; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, noon to 5:30 p.m. 4501 Delridge Way SW, Seattle
