I intentionally plan my afternoons around a visit to the park almost every day because my child is naturally outdoorsy and thrives on being active. She loves biking, climbing, and spending time outside, no matter the time of day. That’s why I chose Redmond’s Westside Park, which is just a 5-minute drive from the Bridle Trails neighborhood.
It’s a neighborhood park with a nature-themed play structure made of eco-friendly elements, perfect for a quick after-school playtime for preschoolers or a casual park visit for parents with young toddlers.

Our Experience
We visited the park for a weekday afternoon playtime. As always, my daughter biked the paved trail around the playground before exploring the park’s obstacle course, which includes a traditional square-rope net climber, rope walk, and balancing log walk. It ends at a cross-timber climb structure, great for testing kids’ bear crawl abilities.
The Park
Westside Park is a small park spanning 6.4 acres. Along with the nature-themed playground, it has a dedicated pickleball court, a basketball court, a covered picnic shelter, and a multi-purpose paved trail. Its trail connects to the city’s urban hiking trail, the Bridle Crest Trail, which in turn connects to Marymoor Park.
Climbing structures made of natural timber logs, good for ages 5+. I love the lawn area for free play and running around, or for an impromptu picnic lunch.
There is a bike rack located next to the picnic shelter. The sports courts have a sit-out area for parents who want to supervise their kids while they play.
The only drawbacks: No restroom and no dedicated public parking lot. However, there is a small roadside parking bay that can accommodate approximately 4–6 cars.
The Playground
Westside Park has three play structures almost any toddler would love — a cable zipline, regular swings and a saucer swing, and the natural wood log obstacle course. Give my child an obstacle course and a climbing structure, and she is the happiest in the playground.
The zipline in this playground, by the way, is the first-ever in the Redmond Parks and Recreation system. The playground has artificial grass, providing a level surface for kids using mobility aids. It also makes the place look cleaner.
There is a first-come, first-served picnic shelter conveniently located near the playground, with two tables that are just enough for a group of 10-12 people.
Bridle Crest Trail
Bridle Crest Trail is an unpaved urban multi-purpose trail that connects Bridle Trail State Park to Marymoor Park. It is a little over three miles as an out-and-back route. If you want to walk in nature, avoiding noisy roadside neighborhoods, this is the spot.
Amenities & Accessibility
The park has multi-purpose, stroller-friendly paved paths.
