Sure, trick-of-treating is tons of fun, but what to do when you end up with tons of candy - more than you want to see the kiddos eat? Dentists, schools and parents have come up with some creative ways to get rid of excess Halloween candy other than secretly tossing pieces in the garbage can. Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends care packages to U.S. troops in combat, their children left behind and wounded soldiers, has a Halloween Buy-Back Program that collects upwards of 125 tons of candy and mails it in individually addressed care packages. Dentists sign up to participate, offering money or other goodies in exchange for each pound of candy delivered.

Go to the Halloween Buy-Back Program website to search for a participating dentist near you, and give your kids a way to offer up some gratitude along with their sweets. Area participants include:
