What are Washington’s current favorite baby names?

Olivia and Oliver are very popular in the Evergreen State.

ā€œWhatā€™s in a name?ā€

Well, just about everything since it is attached to a child from the moment they are born, most especially in the form of a social security number. The Social Security Administration records the names of every child born in the county ā€“ and every year announces the most popular baby names.Ā

Same names, different order

The surprise this year? No surprise. Liam has been the top baby boy name in the U.S. for six years running, while Olivia has claimed the first spot on the girlsā€™ roster. Only one new name was added to the top 10 in 2022: Luna.

How do Washington Stateā€™s top 10 baby names of 2022 differ from the national list? Not much. The list of favored names is exactly the same, though arranged in a slightly different order from one to 10. In Washington, the top boy’s name last year was Oliver, top girl Olivia. Across the country, Olivia grabbed the number one spot beside Liam on the boys’ list.
