Are your kids getting tired of the usual rainy afternoon art projects?
Time to mix things up a little: Pick up an art kit.
In honor of what would normally be its winter Free Family Day, Bellevue Arts Museum is having “Winter Crafts to Go,” in which it will give away 1,200 craft-making kits (best for kids 4 to 10) via contactless pickup between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 30).
Craft superstore Michael’s has a section on its website called “Boredom Busters.” Likewise, Joann has project ideas, many complete with video how-tos. They want to sell you things, of course, but it’s possible you’ll find projects for which you already have the materials.
Check Seattle Art Museum for upcoming family-oriented online programs. Tacoma Art Museum also has child- and family-oriented programs, including one called Creature Feature in which kids’ works will be displayed in conjunction with Earth Day.
And there’s always paint-your-own pottery, which in some cases can be done at home. Here are some local shops to try.
