Celebrate Seattle’s annual Neighbor Appreciation Day, a day set aside to reach out to neighbors, create new friends and express thanks to those who help make your neighborhood a great place. The date is set for Feb. 14, with neighborhood and group activities beginning Feb. 7.
Here are ways you can participate in Neighbor Appreciation Day:
-
Plan an activity for your neighborhood such as a block party, potluck or work party. Visit this website for ideas, tools, resources and templates to help you organize an activity. Once scheduled, you can post your event to the events calendar.
-
Attend one of the many community activities listed on the events calendar. The Seattle Fire Department will host open houses at 19 stations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many pools, parks and neighborhood groups are also hosting celebrations.
-
Send Neighbor Appreciation Day e-cards to your neighbors.
-
Share a story or two about your favorite neighbors. You can post stories about great neighbors or neighborhoods on the website, or post it to Facebook.
If you have an idea for a neighborhood activity, don’t forget that the Small Sparks Fund can help to support Neighborhood Appreciation Day projects that connect and engage your neighbors.
Join Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and thousands of community members in celebration of what makes Seattle great – our neighbors. Visit seattle.gov/neighborhoods/neighborday for more information.
