Erika's Weekend Picks: Marysville strawberry festival, a KEXP Father's Day dance party, and the Fremont Fair!

Fremont Fair, Fri/Sat/Sun. Free. Music, arts and crafts, art cars, fantastic food, buskers and kids' activities…all taking place in the center of the universe, otherwise known as Fremont. Also on Saturday at 3 is the Solstice Parade which travels from Fremont Ave to Gas Works Park. Parental notice…the parade is led by a fleet of mostly if not fully naked bicyclists, covered in body paint. fremontfair.com

 

Marysville Strawberry Festival, Sat/Sun, All day. The weather has been beautiful, which means so are the strawberries. Head North to Marysville this wknd for a fun carnival full of food, entertainment, parade and fireworks. Oh and strawberry shortcake, strawberry ice cream, strawberry pie and more. maryfest.org

 

The Cabiri presents EZID, Fri-Sun, 7:30 pm. Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center. This new production by the Seattle based aerial dance troupe explores tales and mythology from Anatolia to North Africa. KEXP Father's Day Dance Party, Sun, 11-2. EMP. Bring your Dad and dance your socks off at this 2 room party in the museum lounge and SKy Church. There will be crafts, activities and even be break dance lessons from the fabulous Vicious Puppies Crew. $10 empmuseum.org

 

Festival Sundiata: Black Arts Fest, Sun, 11-6. Seattle Center Armory. Free. Celebrate African and  African-American culture, history and art with performances, and art exhibit, a car show, delicious food, kids activities and more. FREE festivalsundiata.org

 

Jazz4Kids, Edmonds, Sat, 4 p.m. FREE. Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra presents a one hour matinee concert  with an instrument petting zoo before the show. TIcket required, pre-register. srjo.secure.force.com
