September is a month of school starting up again, of leaves changing color and of beer and lederhosen! Fremont’s Oktoberfest is hailed as one of the top 10 places to celebrate the festival, and kids are allowed to join in the fun on Sunday, September 20, with guests under 21 admitted free with a paying adult.
Events and activities are tailored for the whole family, including zucchini races, chainsaw pumpkin-carving demonstrations, and live music from kid favorites The Not-Its!.
Food-truck options will keep little tummies happy, and kids can participate in a root beer tasting as parents get to sample from a selection of more than 100 brews. For older kids, the annual “street scramble” scavenger hunt is a lot of fun, though subject to an additional fee.
Head to Fremont, raise your stein and say farewell (or prost!) to summer. (Until next year, that is… ) fremontoktoberfest.com
