Twisted Flicks: Mothra, Kirkland Performance Center. Fri 8 pm. What do you get when you mix Jet City Improv comedians with a 1961 B movie? Godzilla-sized entertainment! Great for kids 10 and up. Come ready to shout out funny suggestions. $20. kpcenter.org

 

Seattle Summer Parkways: Central District, Sat 11-3. Three miles of roadways are closed to cars and filled with activities, food trucks, performances and more. Plus events at Judkins, Pratt, Powell Barnett Parks and Garfield Playfields. FREE. seattle.gov/transportation/summerparkways

 

Monroe Swift Night Out, Wagner Center, Sat 4 pm – dusk. FREE. Perhaps more appropriately called the Swifts Night In, come watch one of the largest roosts of Vaux's Swifts in the U.S. swirl into a 4 fit chimney in a vortex of feathers. One of a kind evening with info booths, kids' activities, food and more. monroeswifts.org 

 

Vashon Sheepdog Classic, Sat 8-5. Misty Isle Farms. Watch sheepdogs and their handlers maneuver livestock in various herding competitions, then wander through a local fair with fiber demos and craft vendors. Shuttle to/from ferry available for $2 each way. $8, free ages 5 and younger. vashonsheepdogclassic.com

 

Round the Rock, Sat 9-5. Newcastle Beach Park. FREE. Watch some amazing athletes compete in stand-up paddle board races including two heats for 7-14 year olds. Stay for food, paddle boarding demos and more. roundtherock.com

 

Seattle Design Festival Block Party, Occidental Park, Sat/Sun. FREE. The kick off to the two-week Seattle Design Festival, this outdoor event is full of installations, performances and design activities for all ages, sizes and abilities. Great for families. seattledesignfestival2015.sched.org
