Advocate for Kids at Have a Heart for Kids Day in Olympia this Tuesday

Bring the kids for a lesson on democracy! Organized by Children's Alliance, Have a Heart Day for Kids provides a chance for you to get trained on how to advocate and make sure your legislator hears about issues related to kids.

Parents, children and community leaders are encouraged to come to Olympia this Tuesday, February 16th  to rally and meet with legislators to advocate for  issues critical to the health and well-being of our kids, including:

  • Fully restore TANF income assistance to thousands of families struggling to meet their basic needs
  • Authorize dental therapists for greater access to oral health care
  • Prevent thousand of kids from being stuck on a waitlist for early learning opportunities
  • Invest in kids with fair, equitable, sustainable resources
  •

The event goes from 10 am – 3 pm, with registration starting at 9:30. The agenda includes "New Advocate Training" from 10:30-11;15 am, a rally and march at 11:30 where kids will lead chants backed by Tacoma’s Lincoln High School Drumline, speakers on the need for and power of advocacy, and appointments with legislators 1 – 3 pm. ā€‹

The event is free and lunch is provided.
