Day Tripping: Eat, play, and take a stroll through Bainbridge Island's sweet Winslow

Leave your car, take your stroller and set your sights on Bainbridge Island’s Winslow neighborhood, which offers a quaint, small-town setting with plenty for families to see, do and eat. And with a scenic 35-minute ferry ride out of Downtown Seattle, getting there is half the fun. Here are some of our favorite Winslow spots, all easily reached on foot.

Bainbridge Island Museum of Art

Kids Discovery Museum

Kids 7 and younger will love KiDiMu’spirate treehouse, art studio, fun with physics, and “town” complete with kid-size doctor’s office, grocery store, bank and more. Admission is $8 for children older than 12 months.kidimu.org

Hitchcock Deli

Pick up some delicious sandwiches from the deli run by acclaimed chef Brendan McGill, then head down to Waterfront Park for a picnic. Meats are roasted and cured in-house, and they offer a PB&J that would please the littlest gourmand. hitchcockdeli.com
