Groups or solo musicians of all genres are encouraged to submit original material for consideration in EMP Museum's Sound Off! 2015, the Northwest's premier 21 and younger battle of the bands.
Now in its 14th year, Sound Off! supports the region's music scene by giving young artists from different backgrounds an opportunity to showcase their work, connect with the larger artistic community, and perform live at one of the top venues in the Northwest. Organized by EMP, Sound Off! has paved the way for some of today's freshest talent including The Lonely Forest, Sol, Kithkin, Dyme Def, Tomten, Schoolyard Heroes, and Brite Futures.
Sound Off! participants are eligible to win valuable prizes including recording time, gear, radio airplay, festival performances and exposure in front of influential members of the music community. Musicians and bands interested in entering Sound Off! can apply online now at empmuseum.org/soundoff. Applications are due Monday, Nov. 3.
A panel of music-industry professionals will review all applicants and select 12 bands to perform live at EMP. Musicians will be scored on song composition and arrangement, creativity and originality, and technical ability and musicianship. All categories will be equally weighted.
Three semifinal rounds of Sound Off! concerts will take place at EMP beginning in February 2015 culminating in a finals show.
