Family-Friendly “Magic of the Mask” Exhibit Opens at Schack Art Center

Beginning Thursday, May 3, with an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m., the Schack Art Center will present the exhibit "Magic of the Mask: in Traditional and Contemporary Form." The show runs through June 7.

This exhibit focuses on creating a deeper understanding of the connections between cultures and societies through their use of masks. Exploring the significance and role they play in ceremonies from widely separated regions of the world.

With a focus on cultural arts education, the exhibit includes masks from Africa, Mexico, South and North America and explores the people and spirituality behind them.

In addition to diverse masks from private collections, several local artists will be featured including Ruth Brockman, David Boxley, Margo Grothe and Joan Lang. To learn more, visit www.schack.org.
