The sun is making its momentary departure today and tomorrow in much of the area, and if you're home with time to kill it's a great day to start planning backyard gardens with the kids. Check Pinterest for planting ideas. I also like the gardening ideas for little ones on the National Gardening Association's kidsgardening.org website and this video on container planting with kids via Martha Stewart.

On to tonight: It's pajama storytime at the University District and Ballard Seattle Public Library branches. The popular events start at 6:45, so be there on time with the kids already dressed for bed, then cross your fingers they fall asleep in the car.
