Guide to swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) around the Seattle area

Where to swim and learn this summer

Indoor and outdoor swimming pools offer not only fun for the whole family but also the ideal way for kids (and grown-ups) to learn how to swim – an essential skill for any child living in our area where lakes, rivers, and Puget Sound mean there are countless opportunities to be in and on the water. Most of the pools listed below offer swim lessons but the swim classes often fill up quickly so you’ll often need to plan way ahead to get the kids signed up.

[Read more: A complete guide to swim lessons in the Seattle area]

All but two of these pools are public and therefore require only a low daily fee to swim. The two private swim pools included below – Samena Swim and Recreation Club and Evergreen Community Aquatic Center – require membership to swim.

Note: Staffing shortages are a problem for many public pools in 2025. Be sure to check the pool website or call before heading out to swim.
