The Seattle School Board is inviting families, staff, and community members to help shape the search for the next leader of Seattle Public Schools (SPS). Current Superintendent Dr. Brent Jones will step down on Sept. 3, and the board has launched a nationwide search for his replacement.
To support the Seattle Public Schools superintendent search, the board has partnered with the executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to support the selection process. Community engagement is a key part of the process, and the board is encouraging the public to weigh in on what qualities and priorities should define the next superintendent.
This month, the board is hosting a series of online and in-person meetings, many with language interpretation, to ensure broad participation. Feedback from these sessions will help shape the leadership profile used to guide candidate recruitment and selection.
