Actor Edward Norton, singers Joe Jonas and Cody Simpson, and four members of the NFL Champion Seattle Seahawks are among the top names slated to appear March 21 at Seattle's second annual We Day, an inspirational program for students from across the state.
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, running back Derrick Coleman, linebacker Bobby Wagner and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse are on the KeyArena lineup announced Wednesday by Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, a co-chairman of the event.
We Day, which originated in Canada, was held for the first time in the U.S. in Seattle last year and drew some 15,000 students and supporters committed to taking action on local and global causes.
The program — part concert, part pep rally — was created by the charity Free the Children, started by Toronto brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger in 1995. Carroll was instrumental in bringing the event to Seattle last year.
Students from more than 400 Washington schools are expected at the Seattle Center event, for which Microsoft and The Allstate Foundation are co-title sponsors. Connie Ballmer of Ballmer Family Giving is a co-chairwoman.
