Seattle Public Library in-person story times

Weekly popular events for preschoolers at neighborhood libraries

Bring your favorite stuffie and get ready for a story! Seattle Public Library (SPL) hosts weekly story times across its branches, designed especially for young children and their caregivers.

During each session, librarians and branch staff share age-appropriate stories and invite children up to age 5 to join in rhymes, songs, movement, and other fun activities. Programs typically run 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the branch, and are always free.

Story times are popular and seating is limited. You don’t need to register, but arriving early is the best way to ensure your child has a spot.

There’s an SPL story time every day of the week somewhere in the city. Sessions are held at the same time and place each week, and offerings are in English and Spanish.

Check the events calendar before leaving for the library due to holiday closures.
