Washington superintendent speaks directly to parents

Chris Reykdal explains WA students' rights in the face of federal edicts

This week Chris Reykdal, Washington’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, sat behind his desk and spoke directly to parents across the state about Washington’s DEI education policy, and the rights of children in Washington’s public schools. Those rights include the right of every child to basic education, no matter their or their parents’ legal status, and the right of every child to participate in schools based on the gender by which they identify. The 12-minute recording was posted on the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction website.

We include it here in full so that as parents, caregivers and educators in our community, you can hear firsthand where Washington stands with regards to DEI education policy, numerous executive orders of impact to students and their families signed by President Donald Trump since he entered office a month ago.
