This tiny, North Ballard pizza spot serves up big flavor. Wood-fired, Italian-style pies with locally-sourced toppings and house-made ricotta draw the crowds, so come early or be prepared for a wait. Frelard Pizza Company
Cut from the same dough as the popular Ballard Pizza Company, Frelard Pizza has made its home in the ambiguous area between Ballard and Fremont on Leary Way. The pizza is New-York style and the draft beer is local. The tagline “whole pies and fat slices” perfectly describes pies topped with anything from pancetta to pickled peppers. Dine alfresco at umbrella-topped picnic tables, snag a high top table for a slice.

Tutta Bella Wallingford
The largest of five neighborhood locations, the Wallingford Tutta Bella features indoor and outdoor seating, a family-friendly atmosphere, and delish Naples-inspired pies. Pizza dough and Wikki Stix are passed out pre-pizza, and it’s fun to watch the pies baking in the wood-fired ovens. Kids can dig into their personalized “bambino” pizzas or pasta and post-pie gelato, and parents will appreciate a well-rounded menu and twice-daily happy hours.

The Ridge
This family-friendly pizza spot serves up pizzas, calzones, baguette sandwiches, salads, and craft cocktails. The Ridge is neighborhood-focused, with each pizza named after a nearby business: order The Zoo, a Ken’s Market Combo, or the Sip & Ship! A Northeast Seattle neighborhood favorite, Varlamos has been the go-to spot for after Little League games, family get-togethers, and pizza play dates. The Independent Pizzeria
This tiny-yet-airy (and definitely charming) pizzeria sits at a prime location just across from Madison Beach Park. The Independent serves up craft pies with chewy crusts, salads, and antipasti. Their ingredient list is impressive, using organic tomato passata base on all their pies and offering toppings as exotic as pecorino sheep’s cheese or speck di Alto Adige (pro tip: it’s a smoked ham from Italy!). There’s Crater Lake Root Beer on tap for the kids and a selection of excellent wines for mom and dad.
Tip: The tiny establishment gets crowded quickly, so if you’re toting kids, go early.

This much-loved Made On Demand pizza joint is a godsend for picky eaters. At MOD, kids can choose their favorite toppings (or none at all!), customizing their pizzas at no additional charge. For a treat, try a hand-spun MODshake with yummy mix-in options or cinnamon strips. Also on the menu: customizable salads, draft beer, and wine. Proletariat
The “pizza that made White Center famous” offers thin-crust pies to satisfy both meat lovers and vegans alike, and if you’re looking to add potato, SPAM, or soft-cooked egg, here’s your chance. If you’re out and about for lunch, Proletariat Pizza serves slices between noon and 4pm. There’s beer, wine, and cocktails for adults, and kids can refresh with cane-sugar sodas or Rachel’s Ginger Beer. Gluten-free pizzas (whole pies, not slices) are available for an extra $5, and there’s a kids’ appetizer plate featuring olives, pineapple, mozzarella, and sliced baguette.
