From family get-togethers and post Little League celebrations to we-have-nothing-in the-fridge sort of evenings, pizza nights are always a hit. Here are 12 pizza restaurants to check out for your next family pizza night (and some do delivery!).

Delancey
This tiny, North Ballard pizza spot serves up big flavor. Wood-fired, Italian-style pies with locally-sourced toppings and house-made ricotta draw the crowds, so come early or be prepared for a wait. Delancey offers an impressive selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, and for the kids there’s Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Mexican Coca Cola, or Thomas Kemper Root Beer.
Tip: Finish off your meal with their famous gray-salted chocolate chip cookies (baked, or as dough)!

Frelard Pizza Company
Cut from the same dough as the popular Ballard Pizza Company, Frelard Pizza has made its home in the ambiguous area between Ballard and Fremont on Leary Way. The pizza is New-York style and the draft beer is local. The tagline “whole pies and fat slices” perfectly describes pies topped with anything from pancetta to pickled peppers. Dine alfresco at umbrella-topped picnic tables, snag a high top table for a slice.
Tip: It’s a popular spot, so be prepared to wait. BYOCB (Bring Your Own Coloring Books).
Hours: Mon through Fri, 4 pm to 11 pm; Sat and Sun, 11 am to 11 pm.

The largest of five neighborhood locations, the Wallingford Tutta Bella features indoor and outdoor seating, a family-friendly atmosphere, and delish Naples-inspired pies. Pizza dough and Wikki Stix are passed out pre-pizza, and it’s fun to watch the pies baking in the wood-fired ovens. Kids can dig into their personalized “bambino” pizzas or pasta and post-pie gelato, and parents will appreciate a well-rounded menu and twice-daily happy hours.
Hours: Sun through Thurs, 11 am to 10 pm; Fri and Sat, 11 am to 11 pm.

The Ridge
This family-friendly pizza spot serves up pizzas, calzones, baguette sandwiches, salads, and craft cocktails. The Ridge is neighborhood-focused, with each pizza named after a nearby business: order The Zoo, a Ken’s Market Combo, or the Sip & Ship! There are even three pizzas that donate $1 of each sale to a local charity. Grab a crayon box or small toy on your way in for the kids to play with while you wait for your food.
Tip: Stroll down the street to Ken’s Market for a sweet treat after dinner.

Gluten-free crust is available, and their 7” mini pizzas are a great bet for kids’ appetites.

The Independent Pizzeria
This tiny-yet-airy (and definitely charming) pizzeria sits at a prime location just across from Madison Beach Park. The Independent serves up craft pies with chewy crusts, salads, and antipasti. Their ingredient list is impressive, using organic tomato passata base on all their pies and offering toppings as exotic as pecorino sheep’s cheese or speck di Alto Adige (pro tip: it’s a smoked ham from Italy!). There’s Crater Lake Root Beer on tap for the kids and a selection of excellent wines for mom and dad.
Tip: The tiny establishment gets crowded quickly, so if you’re toting kids, go early.

MOD Pizza
At Mod Pizza, pies are all custom-made and come in 3 sizes, including a mini version that’s perfect for kids. |
This much-loved Made On Demand pizza joint is a godsend for picky eaters. At MOD, kids can choose their favorite toppings (or none at all!), customizing their pizzas at no additional charge. These thin-crusted, wood-fired pies are made on the spot (read: no desperately trying to distract whining toddlers while you wait for your food). For a treat, try a hand-spun MODshake with yummy mix-in options or cinnamon strips. Also on the menu: customizable salads, draft beer, and wine. The Lake Forest Park location is one of ten regional spots featuring MOD’s signature interior design style: open, airy, clean digs with a beautiful Chipotle- or Subway–esque layout of toppings, cheeses, and sauces to choose from.
Tip: There are three sizes: Mini, Mod, and Mega. The Mini is perfect for kids (a 6-inch pie for less than $5).
