13 Seattle Public Schools Honored For Excellence

Thirteen Seattle Public Schools were honored on Wednesday, April 27, for winning the Washington Achievement Award for overall excellence and special recognition in language arts, math, science, graduation rate, improvement and closing achievement gaps. The ceremony took place at 9 at Lincoln High School in Tacoma.

The awards are based on the Washington Achievement Index, and schools are selected based on their statewide assessment data for the three previous years. This data is analyzed using the achievement index and methodology. The schools, along with the categories being recognized, are:

  • Alternative School #1 – Improvement

  • Catharine Blaine K-8 – Overall Excellence

  • Bryant Elementary – Overall Excellence

  • Concord International School* – Overall Excellence

  • Frantz Coe Elementary – Overall Excellence

  • John Hay Elementary* – Overall Excellence

  • Home School Resource Center – Extended Graduation Rate

  • Loyal Heights Elementary* – Overall Excellence, Math

  • McGilvra Elementary* – Overall Excellence

  • Mercer Middle School* – Overall Excellence

  • Montlake Elementary – Overall Excellence

  • NOVA – Language Arts

  • Schmitz Park Elementary – Overall Excellence, Math

    * These schools also won awards in 2009
