Hey there families, and welcome to Erika’s Picks. For years, I’ve been on the lookout for the best kid-friendly events happening each weekend around the greater Seattle area. Whether you’re looking to explore a new park, attend a fun workshop, or catch a local performance, I’ve got you covered. Each week, I’ll share my handpicked activities that are sure to keep the little ones entertained, engaged, and maybe even learning something new along the way. So, grab your calendar, gather up your crew, and get ready for a weekend full of fun!Â
Let’s dive into the picks for this weekend, February 1 and 2, 2025. Â
- Saturday, 10 a.m – 3 p.m.
- Edmonds Center for the Arts
- Cost: Free
Head to Edmonds this Saturday for a free community event uplifting the creativity and traditions of the local Asian American community. Hosted by the Multicultural Association of Edmonds, this family-friendly event begins at 11 a.m. with the Mak Fai Lion Dance, followed by demonstrations by Northwest Wushu Academy, and finishing with a breakdance performance from the Seattle-based hip hop crew, Massive Monkees. Be sure to wander the Lunar New Year Market, which features gaming lessons from the Seattle Go Center and many delicious food vendors. There will also be community-driven art installations, a trolley tour, and a red envelope walk featuring local businesses. Registration is free for the event, and you can register online.

- Issaquah Library
- Cost: Free
Love is in the air! Head to the Issaquah Library and take part in a fun, family program to make Valentine’s Day cards and mini origami boxes to gift to your family and friends. All ages are welcome for card-making. The origami box craft is best for kids ages 8 and older, although younger kids can take part with adult assistance. Registration not required.

- Russian School of Mathematics, Bellevue
- Cost: Free
Celebrate the Year of the Snake with math, fun, and cultural festivities at the Lunar New Year Math Festival at the Russian School of Mathematics in Bellevue. This event is open to all and welcomes math enthusiasts in grades K to 5 to dive into engaging activities. You can test your skills with math trivia to build a snake creation, challenge your strategy with Chinese Checkers, solve tricky puzzles with chopsticks, make snake designs with origami, and more. The event is free, but registration is required for kids.
- Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Mattress Firm ShowPlex Pavilion, Puyallup
- Cost: Adults: $15, Kids (ages 6-16): $5, Kids 5 and under: Free. Military: $10. Additional tickets are needed for archery.
It’s the annual Washington Sportsmen’s Show presented by Leupold, at the Washington State Fair Events Center this weekend. Celebrate in Puyallup with hundreds of fishing and hunting exhibitors, guides and outfitters, new gear, boats, ATV’s, and experts. Kids can take part in a fun, fishing event at the Kids Trout Pond. They get to fish and take up to two trout home with them if they wish. Everything’s provided including the plastic bag for the trout. There is also an indoor Steelhead River to experience, a 3D Open Archery Challenge, and much more.

- Saint Martin’s University
- Cost: Free
Spend a day immersed in the heritage and cultures of the Lacey community at Saint Martin’s University on Sunday. You can enjoy music and dance presentations by local and regional performing arts groups like Alaska Kuteeya Dance and Celtic Treble, learn about various world traditions through demonstrations and displays, and sample the flavors and art of the world with diverse food and craft vendors. Kids will enjoy ‘traveling’ the world with a Passport Activity, plus there will be a quiet Sensory Area with low lights and soft seating for those who need it.
