Half Price Books is launching its 13th annual Half Pint Library Book Drive. During this six-week program, children's books are collected and distributed to families and children in need through local nonprofit organizations. For the first time, Half Price Books will match each book donated during the drive.
The bookstore launched the Half Pint Library program in 1999. Since then the program has have provided more than two million books and created hundreds of Half Pint Libraries across the nation. 199,372 books were donated during the 2010 Half Pint Library Book drive and the store hopes to increase that number this year.
People can donate new or gently-used children's books at any Half Price Books location from Monday, Feb. 14, through Thursday, March 31. Northwest locations include Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Lynnwood, Redmond, Tacoma and Tukwila. For a list of stores and addresses, visit http://www.hpb.com/. The Half Pint Library Book Drive was created to give children and their families a chance to read and share books while visiting pediatric clinics and community centers across the nation.
