Active dads
Dust off your dancing shoes for the KEXP Father’s Day Dance Party, with your choice of a morning or afternoon session (or both!). Advance purchase is recommended. South Bellevue Community College hosts their annual A Day of Play with Dad, featuring a pancake breakfast, climbing, hiking, disc golf and other active endeavors. Be sure to pre-register! Families who like to run can participate in the Father’s Day 5K in Olympia, which also features a free 1-mile kids’ dash. Also down south is the Father’s Day Family Paddle, where ages 7 and older can paddle from Steilacoom to Ketron Island. Pre-registration is required. Father’s Day falls on a Bicycle Sunday where you can enjoy a car-free stretch of scenic Lake Washington Boulevard in Seattle.
Boats, planes, trains, and automobiles
Check out beautiful boats at Bell Harbor Marina during Classic Weekend, June 18-19. Also all weekend, dads and grandpas ride for free at Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie. Enjoy flying and static planes and other cool displays and activities during the Olympic Air Show June 18-19 at Olympia Regional Airport. Car lovers will want to head to Fenders on Front Street in Issaquah on Father’s Day to see hundreds of vintage and classic cars.
Freebies and special offers
On Father’s Day, dads will enjoy free admission (and special activities) at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Seattle Children’s Museum, Northwest African American Museum in Seattle, KidsQuest Children’s Museum in Bellevue, Hands On Children’s Museum in Olympia, and Kids Discovery Museum on Bainbridge Island. Henry Art Gallery is free for everyone on Sundays. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma and Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle are offering dads half-price admission, and SkyMania Trampolines in Kirkland is offering a discount package for Father’s Day with jump time, laser tag and a mini massage.
Festivals celebrating beer, strawberries and art
While not specifically for dads, the following festivals take place over Father’s Day weekend and offer something fun for everyone: Wild Strawberry Festival in Burien, HONK! Fest West in Seattle, Edmonds Arts Festival, Marysville Strawberry Festival, Meeker Days in Puyallup, Fremont Solstice Fair in Seattle, Biringer Farm Strawberry Fest in Arlington, and the Washington Brewers Festival in Redmond.
