Seafair 2020 goes virtual this week! Plus, Disney trivia, & more!

It’s SEAFAIR WEEK! Things look a bit different this year, but not even the coronavirus can stop our city from enjoying Seafair 2020! Join Virtual Fleet Week and see the Blue Angels from home this year as the famous festival goes virtual. Plus, Run Like a Viking with the Nordic Museum, celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday with spiders, play a game of Disney trivia, and much more!


Monday, July 27

Seafair Fleet Week. Of course Seattle-ites are bummed that Seafair is canceled this year, but we’ve got some online festivities to cheer you up! All this week, join in for Virtual Fleet Week at the website linked here. Go on a virtual ship tour, watch interviews with Blue Angels pilots, and more! See website for schedule of activities.

Tuesday, July 28

Run Like a Viking Virtual Challenge 5K/10K/Half Marathon. The Nordic Museum presents a virtual summer celebration Nordic Sol: Nordic by Nature! Stay active with a 5k, 10k or half marathon you can do at your own pace. Bonus points for dressing like a Viking! Pre-register and participate at your leisure. 

Wednesday, July 29

In Community We Flourish (Gates Foundation Monthly Lunchtime Series). Be inspired to make positive change in our community, and hear from local activists. This event will also feature the 2020/2021 Seattle Youth Poet Laureate, Bitaniya Giday, the Seattle Together project, and more. Live at noon. 

Bonus Summer Learning!

The Mountaineers Summer Quest. Sign up for this fun, educational, nature-inspired quest and do map making, plant identification, campfire cooking and more, all from the comfort of your home. Complete all activities before August 31st (at your own pace) and become an official quest graduate! Pre-register and participate at your convenience.

Disney/Pixar Kahoot! Bring your Disney/Pixar knowledge, your love for nostalgia, and your family for a fun afternoon of trivia! Play a few rounds as individuals or teammates in your household, and compete with others virtually! Live at 1 p.m. 

Friday, July 31

Learn about Spiders with Spiderella. Celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday today with Spiderella as she shares all about the wonders of spiders! Live at 10 a.m. 

Fun TEEN Event!

Gage Academy of Art- Teen Art Studios ProgramBig Kid Pick! No adults allowed at Teen Art Studios, EVER! 🙂 These weekly drop-in events are free, everyone ages 13-18 are welcome, and they offer a variety of lessons from drawing, sculpting, painting and printmaking, to visual storytelling, cartooning, and digital animation. Live on Fridays at 6 p.m. 

Saturday, Aug 1

Seattle Audubon’s Youth Environmental Summit 2020. Today, students all over the country can join in for this opportunity to create positive change. Young environmentalists will learn about climate change as an issue that needs to be addressed during the 2020 election, and this webinar will offer training and tools to help young people achieve these goals. Visit the website for a schedule of activities.

Hazel Miller Plaza Summer Concerts. This beloved “concert in the park” series is going virtual this year! This week, sit down with the family (maybe bring the laptop to the backyard!) to jazz & swing group Kim Maguire Trio. Live today at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
