An important change will affect families who use Seattle Parks and Recreation summer camps for their kids.
Registration for summer 2020 will open on April 7, much later than the usual February date for signups.
Here's why: The city hopes to create a more equitable process. As explained in an announcement this week: "This change will allow for more scholarship families (families with limited financial resources) to have their tax statements completed for the prior year in order to apply for a scholarship for camp." (Full city blog post on the change here.)
Camp brochures will be available beginning March at community centers and pools and through the online registration system.
