Thousands are expected to take to the streets in Washington State and across the country this weekend, to keep the pressure on lawmakers to strengthen state and federal gun laws and restrictions. The events are organized by the youth-led March for Our Lives campaign.
March For Our Lives was launched following a massive school at a school in Florida in 2018. The organization is ādedicated to promoting civic engagement, education, and direct action by youth to eliminate the epidemic of gun violence,ā according to its mission statement. Between June 11 and June 12, March for Our Lives will run marches in over 300 locations nationwide to demand that elected officials pass laws that will lead to “a nation free of gun violence.” Puget Sound-area March for Our Lives events this weekend include:
LAKE FOREST PARK march takes place 9:45-10:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 12 at Brookside Elementary School, located at 17447 37th Ave. NE. Meet at the back parking lot of the school and walk to Lake Forest Park Elementary at 18500 37th Ave NE. For more information visit the eventās website.

OLYMPIA march take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Start at the Tivoli Fountain Walkway located at 103 Capitol Way S. and walk to the state capitol building. Visit the eventās website for more information.
