Youth-led March for Our Lives local marches this weekend

Marches against gun violence will be held throughout the Puget Sound region this weekend, June 11-12.

Thousands are expected to take to the streets in Washington State and across the country this weekend, to keep the pressure on lawmakers to strengthen state and federal gun laws and restrictions. The events are organized by the youth-led March for Our Lives campaign.

March For Our Lives was launched following a massive school at a school in Florida in 2018. The organization is “dedicated to promoting civic engagement, education, and direct action by youth to eliminate the epidemic of gun violence,” according to its mission statement. Between June 11 and June 12, March for Our Lives will run marches in over 300 locations nationwide to demand that elected officials pass laws that will lead to “a nation free of gun violence.” Puget Sound-area March for Our Lives events this weekend include:

LAKE FOREST PARK march takes place 9:45-10:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 12 at Brookside Elementary School, located at 17447 37th Ave. NE. Meet at the back parking lot of the school and walk to Lake Forest Park Elementary at 18500 37th Ave NE. For more information visit the event’s website.

REDMOND march takes place from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Redmond City Hall located at 15670 NE 85th St. For more information visit the event’s website. 

RENTON: March set for noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Renton Landing, 719 N. 10th St. More information.

WOODINVILLE march takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday. For the exact location of the event, visit the event’s website.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY march takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Everett at the Snohomish County Plaza located at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. For more information visit the event’s website.

MOSES LAKE march takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. March starts at the Penhallurick’s True Value parking lot at 711 N Stratford Rd. Visit the Moses Lake event website. 

OLYMPIA march take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Start at the Tivoli Fountain Walkway located at 103 Capitol Way S. and walk to the state capitol building. Visit the event’s website for more information.

BREMERTON march takes place from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday; begin at the East end of the Manette Bridge, located near 1100 Wheaton Way. Sign wavers are expected to line up across the bridge. For more information or sign up, go to the event’s website.
