Each day infants across North America are shaken and abused because the person caring for them became frustrated with their crying. "Click for Babies" is an initiative to help educate caregivers about normal infant crying, how to cope with crying and the dangers of reacting to crying in frustration by shaking or harming an infant.
Knitters are encouraged to join in the initiative by knitting purple baby caps and sending them to either of these Washington collection sites:
Seattle Children's Hospital
c/o Protection Program / Click for Babies
4800 Sand Point Way NE M/S W-3638
Seattle, WA 98105-0371
Mary Bridge Children's Hospital
Children's Advocacy Center of Pierce County
1112 S 5th Street
Tacoma, WA 98405
Organizers are working to collect enough caps to provide to every baby born in participating hospitals through the entire month of November. Knit any number of purple baby caps, using soft baby-friendly yarn, and send them to organizers.
