SSCC Cooperative Preschools offer a rich environment of learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for children ages birth to 5. They include creative arts, pretend play, science exploration, reading preparation, math manipulatives, climbing, music, etc. Each session includes individual discovery and group time. Children build social skills, develop empathy, practice self-control and learn the joy of discovery through play and guided learning interactions. Because parents assist in class, the adult-to-child ratio is high. The choice of learning centers is wide and opportunities for critical thinking and social problem-solving are great. SSCC instructors teach child development and guidance tips to use at home and in the classroom. Each parent attends class once a week and chooses a co-op role based on interests and time available.
