Cristal Moreno shows strength, perseverance, dedication to her family

This Unsung Hero stays positive despite a house fire and other challenges.

Seattle’s Child is proud to partner with the state Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington to honor outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children.

All month long, we’ll introduce you to Unsung Heroes from around the state: biological parents, grandparents, foster and adoptive parents. Some volunteer at local schools; some have started nonprofits; some mentor others in their communities. Enjoy their stories.

Cristal Moreno, Richland

Cristal has been a very active parent in her son’s education. They recently lost everything in a house fire and had to stay with family for a while until they just got a place this week.

She works and cares for her own children and also children of one of her siblings. She is an active participant in Ready Rosie (an early-learning program) and is vested in her son’s education. She has remained strong through all of the challenges life has given her and shows her appreciation for what the teachers are doing with her son.

She is my unsung hero by showing her strength and perseverance through staying positive. It is always appreciated to have family support. Thank you, Cristal, for all you do.
