Do you know a child or teen who could use homework support this year? Earlier this month, the Seattle Public Library opened it’s free afterschool K-12 tutoring program, called Homework Help, at nine library branches: the Broadview, Columbia, Douglass-Truth, High Point, Lake City, NewHolly, Northgate, Rainier Beach and South Park branches.
Just show up
No need for an appointment, Homework Help is a drop-in, inviting students to show up at any session to receive help with schoolwork and snacks as well. Students don’t even need a library card to participate or receive help.
During sessions, trained volunteer tutors work with students individually and in small groups on any subject. Students can also use sessions to read, work on learning skills, or play enrichment games with tutors. Although teens can receive support at all Homework Help sessions, this year, Broadview, Columbia, Lake City and Northgate branches will offer support that is especially designed for teens. The Broadview and Columbia branches will offer separate sessions for teens and the Lake City and Northgate branches will offer separate study spaces.
Got a child ready to apply to college? Tutors can also help with college essays and other priorities in addition to academic subjects.
Homework Help is not offered on days when Seattle Public Schools is not in session.
